Gatehouse of Fleet, with its colourful houses and interesting selection of shops and places to eat, lies 4 miles to the east of Mossyard, and has long been a popular tourist destination. Once a bustling industrial town, it still retains some of the original buildings, which were at the heart of a thriving community in the late 18th century. Gatehouse of Fleet has a 9 hole golf course and a public tennis court. Other attractions in the area well worth a visit include Cream o' Galloway Visitor Centre, Castle Douglas Food Town, Kirkcudbright Artists Town, Threave Gardens, Wigtown Book Town, Two of The World Class 7Stanes Mountain Bike Trails are on our doorstep, Galloway Forest Park - and this is only a small selection of what is on offer.
